AXEL Pickled Red Spanish Onions with Habanero is my favorite topping of all time - crunchy, acidic, and spicy. Spanish Onions is my name for the Central American favorite, Cebollas Encurtidas (Pickled Onions). My family began making this recipe after many surfs trips to Nicaragua and Mexico. Everywhere we’d eat, the first thing they would bring to our table was delicious, savory, spicy pickled onions. It reminded me of the pickled onions we’d get when we’d order/make BBQ. The glowing red colors of the onions and the spicy flavors of the habanero.

Based on my authentic Argentine family recipe handed down through generations, this flavorful grilling condiment topping features a traditional combination of simple ingredients used to make pickled onions in Latin American. These ingredients were available for family cook-outs and grill-outs and used by at home cooks, grillers, and our grandmothers.
